Well, June 20th has finally arrived and we are underway leading a CYC club rally on an 11-week tour from Seattle to Desolation Sound and back. By leading, We must admit that at this time, Afterglow is sailing alone and some boats are coming up to join us at different rendezvous points along the way.
To get the big picture of what we are doing, follow this link to the CYC Seattle club page for the rally. We also have a Facebook group that you can join to follow the communications between the boats.
This morning, Afterglow departed from Shilshole Bay Marina, where last night we were giving boat tours to some members of the yacht club. There was no wind to speak of and we motored 6 hours to Port Townsend where we were able to snag the one available reciprocal slip for the Port Townsend Yacht Club.
We walked into the nice town and looked at a few shops then wandered by the Rose Theater. True to our luck, a movie we never heard of was starting the minute we arrived. We can never say no to such an event and went in.
Since we were last at the Rose Theater a decade ago, they have installed these wonderful red couches for one and for two so we snuggled in and saw The Materialists. A wonderful little romance film that we thoroughly enjoyed.
After, we went looking for some Dungeness crabs but found a restaurant serving Cioppino. We had wonderful Truffles Fries and shared a big bowl of Cioppino.
We only get one night at the PTYC reciprocal dock and there is some rain in the forecast tomorrow so we will have until noon to decide what to do. After tomorrow it looks like nice weather for a while so will be headed into the San Juan Islands soon. More to come ... Note to self to take more photos!
