Squirrel Cove BC: Lots of friends

Squirrel Cove, nestled into Cortes Island in Desolation Sound is the location for the week 6 rendezvous of the 2025 CYC Rally to Desolation Sound and the first location in the Desolation Sound proper. We have made it.
Allen and Mike and Ralph study weather scenarios on Afterglow. There is a little store here, a gas dock that is only approachable at mid-tide and above, and an amazing well-protected cove with room for many boats, and many boats come and go all day. Norma and Allen also picked fresh blackberries for the sundowner on Renovatio and for dessert the next day on Afterglow.
Besides Afterglow, three other CYC boats showed up for this rendezvous, and we were very pleased to play host for sundowners and dinners as well as be invited to other boats for the same. Renovatio (named for the boat in the movie "The Island") with Catherine, Erik and Emmy Lou the dog, spent most of the week here. Please note the middle picture above where Emmy Lou, the dog, poses above Renovatio's boat name. Afterglow and Amnesty (named for a song by the band The Whole Bolivian Army), with Ralph de la O, arrived on Wednesday. And Halcyon, with Kit and Mike Nau came in on Thursday.
Renovatio hosted sundowners on Thursday
On Friday, Allen and Ralph on Amnesty rigged up his sailing dingy and let Allen take it for a sail. Here Kit in her kayak is playing safety boat. She's been sailing since she was five years old.
We all stayed here several nights because it is quiet, some hiking trails, a seal that likes to patter around a buoy to attract fish, a nearby store and restaurant and craft shops and good places to socialize. Afterglow hosted folks for a poutine (thanks to Allen) and cheese and crackers happy hour (thanks to Ralph) and a chicken dinner (thanks to Kit and Norma.). A good time and good food and treats were had by all.
